Microsoft Reaffirms Commitment to Privacy and Transatlantic Data Flows

Microsoft has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting customer privacy while supporting transatlantic data flows, emphasizing the importance of trusted legal and technical frameworks for international business operations. As such, Microsoft has more strongly advocated for clear, and globally interoperable privacy frameworks, recognizing that trust in technology depends on the strength of the rules that govern it.

The company continues to invest in privacy protections, security measures and compliance programs that help customers meet regulatory requirements while transferring data between Europe and the United States. Microsoft also reiterated its support for established legal mechanisms governing cross-border data transfers and its ongoing efforts to safeguard customer information.

In support of these updates, Microsoft has updated the Microsoft Privacy Statement to use clearer structure, simplified language, and more precise explanations of our data practices, making it easier to understand what data we collect and how it’s used, without changing our underlying privacy protections or commitments.

According to the company, maintaining reliable international data flows is essential for cloud computing, AI services and global digital collaboration. Microsoft said it will continue working with policymakers and regulators to strengthen trust in cross-border data governance, as the future of technology will be shaped not only by what we build, but by the principles that guide us.
