Microsoft Optimizes Teams Remote App Experience for Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop

Microsoft has introduced cloud app optimization improvements for Microsoft Teams running as a Remote App in Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop environments. Cloud Apps for Windows 365 will also be supported and introduce a new media engine that replaces the legacy WebRTC-based optimization. The enhancements are designed to improve performance, responsiveness and overall user experience when accessing Teams through cloud-hosted desktops and applications. The update focuses on reducing latency and delivering a more seamless experience for collaboration features such as meetings, chat and calling.

The new optimization improves audio and video performance, reliability and security and simplifies ongoing support by enabling media engine updates without frequent upgrades to the infrastructure or client. This feature will be available to anyone using Microsoft Teams as a Remote App on Azure Virtual Desktop or Cloud Apps on Windows 365 from Windows endpoints.

Microsoft said the optimizations help organizations provide a more consistent Teams experience while managing applications through virtual desktop infrastructure. The capability is intended to support hybrid work environments where employees access productivity tools from cloud-based workspaces.
