Microsoft Releases New SQL Server Updates for 2025 and 2022 Versions

Microsoft has released new cumulative updates for both SQL Server 2025 and SQL Server 2022, continuing its regular cadence of fixes and platform improvements for enterprise database environments. The company announced Cumulative Update 5 for SQL Server 2025 RTM and Cumulative Update 25 for SQL Server 2022 RTM. The updates include a range of fixes and enhancements targeting performance, reliability and operational stability across database workloads.

Microsoft said the cumulative updates address issues affecting core database engine functionality, query processing and management operations. The releases are intended to help organizations maintain secure and stable SQL Server deployments across on-premises and hybrid infrastructure environments. This update package contains seven fixes that were issued after the release of SQL Server 2025 Cumulative Update 4.

Cumulative updates remain a critical part of enterprise database maintenance strategies as organizations manage increasingly complex data workloads. Analysts say regular patching and platform maintenance are especially important for businesses supporting AI, analytics and cloud-connected applications that rely heavily on SQL Server infrastructure.
