Microsoft Expands Copilot Controls with New Security and Analytics Features
Microsoft has introduced new security management and analytics capabilities for Microsoft 365 Copilot, aimed at helping organizations better control and monitor AI usage. Updates expand foundation guidance aimed at securing Copilot with remediate oversharing, reliable guardrails and meeting AI-related regulatory obligations.
Features launched in Microsoft Purview include Data Loss Prevention (DLP) aimed at safeguarding prompts and safeguarding web searches with sensitive data. Additionally, remediating overshared files now allows admins to remediate or disable overshared links at scale, while also allowing admin and IT teams to gain visibility around oversharing in Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
The updates provide administrators with enhanced visibility into how Copilot is used across applications, including insights into activity, adoption and potential risks. Â Microsoft also added analytics tools to the Copilot Dashboard that allow organizations to evaluate how Copilot impacts productivity and workflows. Updates to organizational messages now include email as a delivery channel with usage-based targeting.
Users can also track user satisfaction at scale to understand the value of Copilot and gain a deeper understanding of how employees are using Copilot through new intent-based metrics. Analysis can be extended by exporting Copilot Dashboard data into other reporting tools, tailoring insights to your organization's needs. Most of the updates are generally available with Data Loss Prevention for web search in public preview and the new intent patterns feature set to roll out in public preview in the coming month.
