Microsoft Announces GA of Azure API Management Premium V2 Tier

Microsoft has announced the general availability of the Premium V2 tier of Azure API Management, designed to support enterprise-wide API ecosystems with high volume, performance and network isolation. The Premium V2 tier offers the option of either VNet Injection or VNet Integration and provides private endpoint connectivity, availability zones and custom CA certificates. This tier makes it easier for organizations to scale API management globally while maintaining security and monitoring standards essential for production workloads.

The rollout comes at a time when enterprises seek to unify microservices, legacy interfaces and third-party integrations under a controlled API surface. According to Microsoft documentation, the Premium V2 tier builds on the classic standard tiers by offering faster deployment, greater scalability and simplified networking options. VNet Injection is now seamless, no longer requiring configured routes or service endpoints. Inbound private endpoints can now be configured for unique API Azure Management needs, supporting a maximum of 100 Private Links. Availability Zones are now supported with enhanced reliability and resilience for API gateways. Finally, custom CA certificates can also be configured. Premium V2 Tier is now generally available in six regions (Australia East, East US2, West Germany, Central Korea, East Norway and South UK).
