Microsoft Expands Azure Backup to Support Premium SSD File Shares
Microsoft has announced the general availability of vaulted backup support for Azure Files Premium SSD shares. The feature extends Azure Backup’s enterprise protection to high-performance SMB file shares, enabling immutable and off-site copies designed to mitigate ransomware, accidental deletion and regional outages.
Customers can now configure long-term retention policies and restore data across Azure regions via geo-redundant storage vaults.
Customers are already reporting peace of mind knowing that this update ensures secure data backup via seamless integration. Capabilities for file shares include cross-region recovery, ransomware protection and resiliency with the 3-2-1 backup rule built in.
