Automatic Identity Management Now Available for Entra ID on Azure Databricks

Microsoft has moved Automatic Identity Management (AIM) for Entra ID on Azure Databricks from preview to general availability. The integration eliminates previous manual steps, such as provisioning Entra applications or importing user groups, for managing user, group and service principal identities. Entra ID users, groups and services are now automatically available within Azure Databricks.
Key benefits of AIM include:

  • Simplified dashboard sharing with any user. External workspaces members can obtain view-only copies via embedded credentials, enabling easy sharing with users outside the organization.
  • New accounts are automatically enabled with AIM. Existing accounts can opt in via a single click, which will soon become the default setting.
  • Automation support via API and scripting enables the registration of users, groups or service principals, providing the enterprise-scale capabilities that most customers require.
