Dell Refreshes Dense Server

Dell Computer Corp. is readying a 2U two-processor rack-mount server to replace the offering its had on the market since January 2000.

Dell will begin shipping the PowerEdge 2550 in April. It will replace the PowerEdge 2450.

New features in the 2550 include on-board Gigabit Ethernet and a more serviceable chassis.

With the announcement this week, Dell also unveiled a new tower server, the PowerEdge 2500.

Prices start at $2,399.
