Tahoe Server Release Candidate 1

Microsoft has released what the company calls a "beta" version of its Tahoe Server and redubbed it "SharePoint Portal Server."

Microsoft has released what the company calls a "beta" version of its Tahoe Server and redubbed it "SharePoint Portal Server." Release Candidate 1 of the new server product offers document management, intranet portal service, and extensive search capabilities for collaboration among workgroups. It requires Win2K Server or Win2K Advanced Server and, in either instance, Service Pack 1.

A SharePoint Portal Server Release Candidate 1 evaluation kit can be downloaded from the company's Web site. To get the evaluation unit and more details, go to http://www.microsoft.com/servers/sharepoint/eval.htm.
