Keyware Introduces Biometric Toolkit

Authentication via voice or thumbprint has long been the stuff of science fiction, but users may soon be able to log on to web pages with simple touch or utterance.

Keyware Technologies Inc. has introduced a developers’ toolkit allowing programmers to create thumbprint or voice based logins for web pages. The toolkit, dubbed LBV Internet Toolkit, enables log on systems using Java applets or ActiveX controls to exploit Keyware’s identification systems.

LBV is an acronym for Layered Biometric Verification, Keyware’s description of their fusion of biometrics, authentication, and encryption.

Keyware suggests their technology is particularly useful to enterprises using thin clients or running mission critical applications over the web, since it allows the intelligence to reside centrally. In addition, the system is compatible with any browser compatible with either ActiveX or Java.
