MCS, NetIQ Merge

Mission Critical Software Inc. and NetIQ Corp., players in the network monitoring and management space, today announced a mutual merger. In addition, they announced the acquisition of a performance management company, Ganymede Software, Inc.

Mission Critical (www.missioncritical.com) and NetIQ (www.netiq.com), considered competitors in the network management space, agreed to an equal merger, with stockholders receiving equal shares of the other company. Both companies offer network monitoring and directory management tools.

Michael S. Bennett, currently Mission Critical’s chairman and CEO, will adopt the role of executive chairman, while Ching-Fa Hwang, current president and CEO of NetIQ, will be CEO of the new company.

Ganymede (www.ganymede.com), a privately held company which will be purchased by Mission Critical, produces end to end performance management solutions.

The merger should be completed by June. - Christopher McConnell
