Microsoft Updates OneNote for Android and iOS
The OneNote app for iOS and Android was updated this week. Included was the introduction of "universal" apps for the iPhone and iPad.
The new OneNote app for iOS is available through the iTunes store as of Thursday. This single app replaces the previously separate "for iPad" and "for iPhone" OneNote apps, according to Microsoft's announcement.
Current users of the iPad app will have to re-download the updated app, although iPhone users don't have to take any action, the company explained:
"If you are an iPad user today, you will need to get the new OneNote app from the store. When you open your current iPad app, you will see instructions for getting the app. If you are an iPhone user, you don't need to do anything -- we merged the iPad app into the iPhone app so you already have it."
The update will give iPad users access to features that were already available to iPhone users, Microsoft said, such as a "Today" widget, quick access to recently edited notes and the ability to see page previews when the iPad is turned to the landscape position.
The Android version of OneNote also received some improvements, mostly related to stability and bug fixes.
In addition, OneNote for Android now has "the ability to move or copy pages from one section or notebook to another section or notebook," which Microsoft described as one of the most frequently requested features among users.
