Freebie Friday 11/04: Universal File Manager, Backup Mozilla Settings

Welcome to another edition of Freebie Friday, the Redmondmag.com feature highlighting some of the best products for PCs (from software to ebooks) that won't cost you a cent. After checking out this week's batch, send us your suggestions for products that should be included to future editions at [email protected].

  • muCommander - This is a cross-platform file manager that provides the same visual layout, no matter what operating system you are running. All you need to know of this free software comes from the glowing review from a customer posted on the software homepage: "I have found jesus. He came to me in the form of muCommander."

  • MozBackup - This application allows you to store and backup custom settings for Mozilla products like Firefox, Sunbird and Thunderbird. Save your settings on a removable drive for quick access to your configuration at any computer.

  • What's New in Java 7? - This free ebook, available for download at Amazon, will walk you through the changes for developers in the newest version of Java.

  • Disk Space Fan - This allows you to view and modify contents of a hard drive with a unique, almost artistic look. While this won't help you optimize space better than anything else out there, it's just an aesthetic change to the dull hard drive analysis layout.
