Tech-Ed: ScriptLogic Aims for Ease with Security Explorer 8.0

Security management is possible in Windows, but it's not always easy. Functions tend to get buried in menus within the inner recesses of the operating system's interface.

ScriptLogic, though, has long sought to make Windows security management simpler with its Security Explorer 8.0 product.

Now, the company is making Security Explorer 8.0, which itself is designed to unlock the mysteries of Windows security, easier to use. The latest version, unveiled at Tech-Ed this week, offers a new interface designed to make key functions more obvious and simplify tasks for users.

"We've always tried to bring the security aspect to the foreground of the product," said Nick Cavalancia, vice president of Windows management at ScriptLogic. "We wanted to make sure people could find the tasks that they wanted to manage."

Cavalancia added, "Our goal is always to make the admin that much more productive. Let me just literally put what you need to get accomplished right in front of your face."

Last week, ScriptLogic also introduced a free version of its PacketTrap IT device-management product.
