Microsoft Introduces Federated Copilot Connectors for Real-Time Enterprise Data Access
Microsoft has introduced federated Copilot connectors, now generally available, that bring real-time enterprise data into Microsoft 365 Copilot from external platforms and applications. The connectors allow organizations to integrate data from multiple enterprise systems while maintaining existing access controls and governance policies, bringing real-time data to Copilot via MCP. The goal is to enable Copilot to surface more relevant and current information during user interactions without duplicating or moving data into separate repositories.
The federated connectors are available as out-of-the-box connectors that provide services from data providers such as Canva, Notion, HubSpot, LSEG, Moody's, and Google Calendar, among others. Users can connect to federated Copilot connectors from two entry points including Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and from the Researcher agent.
The federated approach is intended to support scenarios where enterprise data is distributed across cloud services, business applications and internal systems. The connectors are designed to provide contextual access to information while preserving security and compliance requirements. Admins can manage federated connectors in the Microsoft 365 admin center to stage rollout to specific Microsoft Entra ID groups before broader deployment.
