Gartner Survey Finds Information Integrity Is Top Risk Concern for Enterprise Leaders

A new Gartner survey found that information integrity has become the leading concern among enterprise risk leaders, reflecting growing anxiety over misinformation, manipulated content and the impact of artificial intelligence on trust in data. Information integrity risk ranked number 1 for Q26 with U.S policy-induced investment uncertainty and increased financial exposure following suit.

According to Gartner, organizations are increasingly concerned about their ability to verify the accuracy, authenticity and reliability of information used in business operations and decision-making. The firm said the rise of generative AI, synthetic media and automated content creation is contributing to the challenge.
The survey found that risk leaders are prioritizing governance, monitoring and verification strategies to address threats tied to inaccurate or manipulated information.

Gartner said concerns extend beyond cybersecurity to include reputational risk, operational disruption and regulatory exposure. Concerns related to AI and informational integrity span risk issues related to rapid AI innovation and vulnerabilities related to organizational planning, transparency and regulation, malicious actors and leadership communication. The report suggests leaders use a scenario matrix to define the focal issue, explore implications and develop action plans.
