Microsoft Teams Optimization for Amazon WorkSpaces Now Generally Available

Microsoft has announced the general availability of Microsoft Teams optimization for Amazon WorkSpaces, improving audio, video and screen-sharing performance for users running Teams within AWS virtual desktops. The optimization enables media processing to occur locally on endpoint devices rather than within the virtual desktop session, reducing latency and improving call quality. Key features include multimedia offloading, high-definition audio and video and feature parity to match the functionality of desktop Teams.

Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments have historically faced challenges delivering high-quality real-time collaboration experiences. With general availability, organizations using Amazon WorkSpaces can deploy Teams with a more native-like experience for conferencing and collaboration. For IT teams managing cross-cloud environments, the update reflects continued interoperability between Microsoft productivity services and AWS infrastructure, helping ensure that remote and hybrid employees maintain consistent communication performance regardless of deployment architecture.
