CrowdStrike and Mandiant Agree on Security Solutions Partnership

Security solutions companies CrowdStrike and Mandiant have formed a strategic partnership across some of their security products for organizations, per a Thursday CrowdStrike announcement.

The partnership "will help joint customers investigate, remediate and defend against increasingly sophisticated cybersecurity events that plague organizations globally," the announcement indicated. Organizations "of all sizes" will be able to use CrowdStrike's Falcon endpoint security service, plus tap Mandiant's "incident response and consulting expertise," a Mandiant blog post explained.

CrowdStrike Falcon is a cloud-based security service for threat detection, automated remediation and threat hunting. It'll be supported by the Mandiant Advantage threat intelligence service, specifically with its Security Validation and Automated Defense modules. Later this year, Mandiant's Managed Defense detection and response service will also leverage CrowdStrike Falcon.

Mandiant has been prominent of late for providing its consulting expertise in high-level security breaches, such as the supply-chain attack that tainted SolarWinds Orion management software. It's currently getting acquired by Google, in an estimated $5.4 billion deal that was announced last month.

Mandiant notably broke from its previous owner FireEye when the Symphony Technology Group announced the purchase last year of FireEye's line of security hardware products. That deal was viewed by analysts as freeing Mandiant from having to sell FireEye products as part of its consulting business.

Despite its strategic partnership deal with CrowdStrike, Mandiant described itself as taking "a vendor agnostic stance" in providing its security services, according to its blog post.

CrowdStrike and Mandiant are forming this partnership to provide the "strongest defense for customers" and out of the "mutual respect" that's formed between their technical teams, George Kurtz, CrowdStrike's co-founder and CEO, indicated in the announcement.
