Community Hub Now Available in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
Microsoft this week announced the arrival of a new Community Hub feature in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
The Community Hub provides a means for sharing scripts, queries and reports. It points to code stored on a GitHub  repository, which is accessible within the Configuration Manager console for download and use by IT pros. Configuration Manager users with "current branch" update version 2002 installed, which was released globally last month, have access to the Community Hub.
Microsoft envisions the Community Hub as being a place where IT pros can share their solutions. However, in its first release, the Community Hub will just display Microsoft-built solutions, the announcement explained:
For the initial release, the content made available in the Community hub will be uploaded only by Microsoft. In the future, IT Admins will be able to upload content on their own, using their own GitHub account.
Not much more details along those lines were shared. It's not clear if Microsoft will act to screen the non-Microsoft-created Community Hub solutions in the future, for instance.
A Microsoft document on Community Hub explained that it'll support the sharing of PowerShell scripts, configuration items, reports, task sequences and applications.
IT pros will need to have the proper administrative rights to download Community Hub items. The Configuration Manager console needs to be running Windows 10 build 17110 or greater plus .NET Framework version 4.6 or higher.
Community Hub is an optional feature in Configuration Manager. IT pros now have an option with version 2002 of Configuration Manager to opt into getting optional features with Microsoft's console updates, which is described in this document.
