Your Partners' Partners: Every Technology Choice Comes with an Ecosystem

Everyone knows how important it is for an organization to evaluate accurately the potential of the partnerships they're considering. They assess the technologies and/or services they provide, of course, but also the benefits and challenges of the collaboration, the compatibility of the two organizations, even the perception in the marketplace of the partnership. And yet, a surprising number fail to evaluate fully the possible impact of a potential partners' existing partnerships.

Today, every technology choice links your organization to a partner ecosystem that could affect your business in unexpected ways, both beneficial and detrimental. In this podcast, industry expert Sebastian Hartmann talks with veteran technology journalist John K. Waters about the importance of evaluating partner ecosystems, including:

  • How ecosystems are forming both horizontally and vertically around the big technology players.
  • The importance of composing the right portfolio of technologies for your specific needs, and how industry analysts have defined "composability."
  • The different types of partners that make up the ecosystem, including "shop floor" level partners, such as Microsoft.
