Service Pack 1 for Office 2013 Products Arriving Early Next Year

Microsoft today indicated that it plans to deliver Service Pack 1 (SP1) "early next year" for its Office 2013-branded products, including Exchange Server 2013 and SharePoint Server 2013.

The SP1 releases will include feature enhancements, improvements in compatibility with Windows 8.1 and performance improvements, according to Microsoft's announcement. No other details were described, but Microsoft promised additional information near release time.

Microsoft has consistently indicated that service packs for its customer premises-installed products are still part of its product release cycles. However, under its new product release cadence, announced earlier this year, cloud-based product improvements will get developed and released first.
