Adobe To Piggyback Flash Updates on Microsoft's Patch Tuesdays
In either a plan to consolidate all those updates to one day or to give busy IT pros an even busier Patch Tuesday, Adobe has announced plans to have its Flash updates land on the same day as Microsoft's monthly security update.
The move was made due to Microsoft's decision to ship Internet Explorer 10 with Adobe Flash baked in. With unsynchronized patch updates for Microsoft and Adobe, this would make things a bit difficult for Microsoft to release an IE update with its monthly rollout -- especially if the update is taking care of Flash issues.
And with the constant stream of said Flash issues (Adobe just recently released a patch for 7 issues yesterday), this synchronization should limit the amount of out-of-bound updates Microsoft has to ship out the door.
This is good news for those that will be running Internet Explorer 10 on a Windows 8 machine, as no other actions than applying an Internet Explorer fix will take care of future Flash issues. However, for those running older versions of IE, or IE 10 on a Windows 7 machine, Flash still comes as a plugin -- so you're responsible for those updates.
