Azure Active Directory Enhanced Sign-In Branding Gets Previewed

Microsoft is previewing new customization options for Azure Active Directory-based user sign-ins to applications, as announced on Monday.

The customizations will apply to "Azure AD and Microsoft 365 apps." They can be set for internal and external users for "B2B, B2E and first-party applications running on Azure AD," the announcement indicated.

The changes get done by IT pros using the Azure Portal via template selections. They can specify branding, plus a color theme, as well as header and footer elements. A self-service password reset link can be added to the user interface as well.

There's also an option to use a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) for these customizations. Microsoft provides a download of a "custom CSS to replace the Microsoft default style of the page" in this document.

The Azure AD enhanced company branding preview also lets IT pros "customize the sign-in experience based on browser language," which is done in the Azure Portal using a drop-down list of languages.

The new preview doesn't show the custom branding when users sign in using personal Microsoft accounts.

"If your users or guests authenticate using a personal Microsoft account, the sign-in page won't reflect the branding of your organization," the document stated.

The Azure AD enhanced company branding preview is available for organizations having Azure AD Premium 1 or Premium 2 licensing, or "Office (for Office Apps)" licensing, per the document.
