Lotus Integrates Enterprise Capabilities Into Domino

Lotus Development Corp. today announced new enterprise integration capabilities for the Domino Web application server that allows organizations to leverage enterprise-wide data, regardless of source, in dynamic applications and business solutions.
New Domino Connectors offer complete transaction processing so administrators can enable native integration of transactional data in Domino applications. Lotus also announced more integration products to help developers build their networks with the Connectors.
Lotus Enterprise Integrator (LEI), previously known as Lotus NotesPump, is a data-transfer product that manages high-volume data exchange and synchronization, and load balancing of transfer operations across Domino Connector sources. Lotus states that this is part of its strategy to provide developers with more capabilities to connect Domino with relational databases, transaction processing and ERP systems.
The Domino Connectors are accessed through either Domino Enterprise Connection Services or LEI. They can also be accessed linguistically through Domino Classes using LotusScript or Java, supplied with LEI. Customers will be able to use the Domino Connectors for IBM MQSeries and CNT Enterprise/Access to execute two-way data integration between applications on disparate systems and Domino.
The announcement was made at Lotusphere Europe 98 in Berlin, just one day after IBM Corp. announced it was integrating all of its transactional server technologies into one product -- WebSphere.
