MCT Consulting and Training

Andy Barkl typifies what Microsoft Corp. looks for in a Microsoft Certified Trainer: He has more than 18 years of experience in the IT field, much of that as a systems integrator with a large defense contractor before becoming a consultant for them. Andy translates that experience to the classroom, where he's able to communicate the challenges that his students might face as they deploy Microsoft technology in the real world.

It was about five years ago that Andy started MCT Associates, a firm that provides teaching and consulting on Microsoft and Cisco technologies and securities. MCT Associates currently offers consulting to small- and mid-size companies with 150 to 200 desktops, helping them migrate from NT 4.0 to Microsoft 2000 and Active Directory Services, as well as Exchange 2000.

Andy's hands-on expertise has served him well in his other endeavors. Besides running his firm, he keeps himself busy as a contributing editor, writer and host of a multitude of online exam preparation chats monthly for several magazines and Web sites, including MCPmag.com.

Listen while Andy discusses his latest successful implementation project: migrating a customer with no messaging or e-mail capabilities from NT 4.0 to Microsoft 2000, complete with an Active Directory domain structure and Exchange 2000. Andy Barkl, MCSE+I, MCT, MCSA, CISSP, CCNP, A+, has more than 18 years of experience in the IT field, most notably as an independent instructor and consultant in Microsoft and Cisco technologies. He's also a contributing editor, writer and host for a multitude of online exam preparation chats on several Website, including MCPmag.com.
