The general release date for Windows 7 on new PCs could be as early as this October, according to an Acer executive.
The release candidate (RC) of Windows 7, Microsoft's newest operating system, can be downloaded today by Microsoft TechNet and MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network) subscribers.
Microsoft rolled out Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 in its "release to manufacturing" form.
