2025 Roles Based Copilot, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Roadmap Announced
Release wave 1, which will occur between April and September 2025, will primarily focus on automation and AI capabilities across those Microsoft products and services. The upcoming slate of releases will also focus on the overall user experience by providing new collaboration and workflow tools and resources.
"With advancements in agents, automation, intelligence, and seamless integrations, this release is designed to address the evolving needs of modern enterprises while driving efficiency and innovation across industries," wrote Microsoft's Ryan Darby Martin, Director of PM, Business and Industry Copilot.
First up, Microsoft will be trickling out a handful of updates to the following roles-based Microsoft 365 Copilot offerings:
- Copilot for Sales: Enhancements include deeper CRM insights, actionable recommendations, streamlined SalesChat experiences and new agent workflows.
- Copilot for Service: Expands functionality with connectivity to any CRM system and introduces inline email summarization and drafting to improve agent productivity within their workflows.
- Copilot for Finance: Focuses on intelligent automation, including variance analysis in Excel, access to external data sources, extended capabilities through Copilot Studio, support for collections calls in Teams and macroeconomic condition summaries via gen AI.
For Microsoft Dynamics 365, here are some of the highlights that will be coming between April and September 2025:
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales: AI-powered Copilot and agents to enhance seller productivity, automate research, manage follow-ups and prioritize tasks.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Service: Introduces agent capabilities for case and knowledge management, AI-driven routing and enhanced Copilot features for representatives and supervisors.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Contact Center: Automates intent determination and knowledge management with Copilot and agents, offering multi-modal customer intent support and workforce management features.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service: Copilot features enable automated inspection generation, actionable insights for schedulers and integrations with Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance: Focuses on simplifying tax and regulatory processes, automating account and bank reconciliations, and leveraging AI for planning and analytics.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management: Integrates AI, automation and analytics to improve supplier communications, demand planning accuracy and manufacturing processes.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations: Enhances scalability and usability with AI-assisted project planning, invoicing, approvals and a new mobile app for time management.
- Finance and Operations Cross-App Capabilities: Extends AI and automation across Dynamics 365 applications, enabling automation and compliance.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Human Resources: Improves recruiting with AI-driven assessments, LinkedIn integrations and AI-first solutions for benefits and people management.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce: Enhances the in-store experience with mobile-first point-of-sale, modern payment methods and omni-channel unified pricing.
And finally, here are some of the updates coming to Microsoft's Power Platform:
- Microsoft Power Apps: Introduces a plan designer with AI agents that help create intelligent apps, automate common tasks and resolve issues, with the aim to drive the adoption of AI solutions.
- Microsoft Power Pages: Enhances secure, data-driven portal creation with AI-driven Web Agents, multi-platform engagement (email, Teams, WhatsApp), AI-assisted form filling and improved governance for deployments.
- Microsoft Power Automate: Adds advanced approvals and AI-native capabilities, including generative actions and intelligent document processing, with enhanced governance and security tools for managing automations at scale.
- Microsoft Copilot Studio: Expands autonomous agent capabilities with support for actions, enterprise knowledge sources, upgraded custom agents and new conversational channels like WhatsApp and SharePoint.
- AI Builder in Copilot Studio: Automates routine processes (email, documents, images) using multi-modal content processing and natural language instructions, with enhanced tools for customizing AI actions and handling diverse data types.
- Dataverse: Strengthens app and agent building by integrating enterprise data from external sources, enabling knowledge-driven AI experiences across the platform.
- Power Platform Administration and Governance: Focuses on improved tools for security, governance, and adoption, with a modernized admin center and new admin connectors for automating tasks.
