Traffic View and Real User Measurements Added to Azure Traffic Manager
Azure Traffic Manager, Microsoft's cloud network-monitoring solution that's used to optimize service connections for end users, got a couple of new features at the "general availability" (GA) stage, Microsoft announced this week.
A new "Traffic View" addition to Azure Traffic Manager adds a heat-map dashboard view of end user experiences, showing global traffic patterns. Traffic View records where users connect to Azure-based services, so it can help with potential network latency issues. The Traffic View feature is now at GA and is deemed ready for use in production environments.
Microsoft plans to charge for the use of Traffic View, starting on May 1, 2018. The rate will be $2 per million data points processed, according to the pricing page.
Another new Azure Traffic Manager addition to ensure service availability is the "Real User Measurements" feature. It's also now available at the GA production-ready stage. Microsoft is planning to charge for its use, starting on May 1, 2018, priced at $2 per million measurements.
Real User Measurements is another means for assuring optimal connections for end users. While Traffic View records where end users are located, such information can sometimes be lacking, and that's where the Real User Measurements comes into play. It's enabled by adding a JavaScript tag to mobile applications, which reports location information back to Azure services.
