Facebook Smartly Pulls Tracking App

On Monday Facebook went live with a mobile app that would alert you when other Facebook members were nearby (whether they are on your friend list or not).

Ideally, it would be used for meeting up with friends and family. Un-ideally, this thing could cause a lot of problems.

Realizing that it had given creepers the keys to the creeping kingdom, the app was no more when Tuesday rolled around.

While locating friends you are trying to meet up with in a public location sounds like a useful tool, who in their right mind thought allowing all those within your general area to know exactly where you are?

Good job, Facebook, for pulling this before a tragic incident occurred. However, next time you're running an ideas meeting, don't listen to the guy who suggested this one.
