South Korea Rejects Microsoft's Anti-Trust Request

Seoul High Court shoots down request for a stay on sanction against the Redmond giant for antitrust.

(Seoul, South Korea) A court on Tuesday turned down Microsoft Corp.'s request for a stay of sanctions imposed by South Korea's fair trade regulator, the software company said.

Microsoft had asked the Seoul High Court to allow the stay of penalties while the company lodged a legal challenge to the Korea Fair Trade Commission ruling ordering it to provide two separate versions of Windows after Aug. 24.

The court, however, rejected that argument, said Kwon Chan, a Microsoft spokesman in Seoul. He had no other details.

Microsoft has an appeal to the commission's ruling pending at the Seoul High Court, which is unaffected by Tuesday's ruling.
