This book will help you understand how to develop object-oriented solutions by showing you everything from capturing requirements to how to implement your object-oriented designs.
The book is divided into three parts. Part one builds a foundation of object-oriented software development concepts by providing an overview methodologies, designs, and concepts that drive the paradigm regardless of programming language or tools. Here you'll also learn how to identify and model classes using Unified Modeling Language, and you'll become aware of some of the common OOP design pitfalls.
Part two teaches you how to create classes and class hierarchies in VB.NET, as well as understand how to collaborate between classes through a class's exposed methods, properties, and events.
In part three, Clark walks you through writing applications in VB.NET using OOP principles. You'll learn how to implement business logic and build WinForms and Web Forms-based applications.
Clark does a great job of sticking to object-oriented development and not veering into topics such as data access or application architecture design patterns, which could easily cloud the book's key concepts. The book provides a good foundation of concepts and examples that developers who are new to VB.NET and object-oriented programming concepts can use to get on the right track.
