Aelita Updates Windows-centric Directory Administration Tool

NEW ORLEANS -- Aelita Corp. this week released a new version of its administration tool for Windows 2000 Active Directory and Exchange.

Key features of the new, 4.1 release of Enterprise Directory Manager include support for administration of Exchange Server 5.5 and more sophisticated reporting functionality.

The tool is aimed primarily at enterprises dealing with the management and security issues surrounding the Windows 2000 Active Directory and Exchange 2000, which depends on the Active Directory.

Core functionality includes roles-based delegation and rules-based provisioning, with the idea being to increase administrator productivity.

The new support for administering Exchange 5.5 from the same console as Exchange 2000 and Active Directory fills a hole.

"This is a significant benefit for large enterprises that may take months to complete the transition from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 and so require an administrative framework that supports both applications," according to Aelita.

Improvements to the tool's reporting capabilities allow for change tracking audits, corporate policy enforcement and Active Directory monitoring/analysis.

Other enhancements to EDM 4.1 are support for the Active Directory Services Interface, a software development kit and Group Policy management.
