Closest on the Count

An MCP from India is the winner of our Count-the-MCSEs competition.

An MCP from India is the winner of our Count-the-MCSEs competition, announced in the November 2001 issue of the magazine. We asked you to guess how many MCSEs Microsoft would have by the beginning of the year. Of course, when we announced the contest, we presumed there would be far fewer of you, but Microsoft changed its mind and the ranks of the MCSEs stayed dramatically high.

Selva Kumar, who works as a system administrator for Future Focus Infotech Pvt. Ltd. in Chennai in the state of Tamilnadu, takes the prize with his guess of 436,000. That’s 599 less than the actual count we received from Microsoft on Jan. 2, 2002: 436,599, but close enough without going over that we hereby officially pronounce Selva the winner.

When he isn’t mastering server technologies, Selva said he spends his time “conquering the cricket pitch.” Kumar wins seven Microsoft exam vouchers, courtesy of VUE, which he says he plans to use to attain his MCSE in Windows 2000. If there’s any left over, he’ll be going after his MCSA.
