A key exam in the revamped MCSD track is closer to release: Exam 70-100, Analyzing Requirements and Defining Solution Architectures. Sign up for the beta, which will be made available from January 18, 1999 through February 8, 1999, and you'll qualify to take any MCP exam for free (Microsoft may offer it as a credit or provide a voucher at the testing site). And, according to Microsoft, participants who pass will get a free gift.

You're required to take Analyzing Requirements in order to obtain the new Microsoft Certified Solution Developer title. Two core exams, Visual Basic 6.0-Desktop (70-176) and Visual Basic 6.0-Distributed (70-175), were recently beta tested and will go live some time in January 1999. (A review of the Distributed Visual Basic 6.0 exam appears in the upcoming January issue of MCP Magazine.)

Registration for Analyzing Requirements begins January 18, 1999. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/mcp/certstep/mcsd.htm for more information.
