Assess Your IT Career Path Before It's Too Late

Companies of all sizes are jumping on the digital business transformation bandwagon.

Companies of all sizes are jumping on the digital business transformation bandwagon. One just has to look at the disruption born-in-the-cloud companies such as Uber and AirBnB has brought upon traditional business models to understand why companies such as Boeing, GE and Tyco, among others, are investing initiatives that can help them change the way they conceive, build, and deliver products and services using digital technology.

Every major IT provider says they're trying to help their customers deliver on these digital transformation initiatives. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has talked this up quite frequently this year and it was a key theme in his keynote at the recent Ignite conference in Atlanta. "Customers are achieving digital transformation where it's about the mobility of the human experience across all of the computing in our lives," Nadella told attendees.

These business imperatives explain Microsoft's relentless emphasis on cloud, mobility, artificial intelligence, machine learning speech recognition, Internet of Things and Blockchain.

As businesses are under pressure to become more agile, so are their IT departments. It's why they, too, are becoming more agile and moving to DevOps-type processes and embracing modern and new open source technology.
