HP's Support Services for Windows 10 Now Includes Browsium's Internet Explorer Remediation Tool

HP is now reselling a Web application remediation solution from Browsium to support Windows 10 moves by organizations.

Browsium is a Redmond, Wash.-based startup company that set out to solve Internet Explorer compatibility issues that Microsoft didn't address for years. New IE browsers arrive with each new Windows release, but many organizations were stuck on older IE technologies to run their Web apps or intranets. This issue had the effect of delaying Windows migrations, in some cases.

Microsoft reacted to the problem last year with its Enterprise Mode for Internet Explorer, a solution that lets IE 11 emulate older IE browser technologies. It's a solution for some organizations, but not all. For instance, organizations dependent on older Java technologies for their Web apps may need a more granular approach as enabled by Browsium's software, according to advice from analyst and consulting firm Gartner Inc. Browsium's Ion product taps older drivers to make these "legacy" Web apps work.

HP is a Preferred Provider partner with Microsoft on a number of products, so reselling Browsium's solution can be considered a mark of distinction. HP, for its part, is prepared to support broader Windows 10 migration issues that companies may face. To that end, HP offers a collection of enterprise services for Windows 10 migrations, with four main components.

First, there's the HP Test Drive Services for Windows 10 component, which helps organizations set up internal testing groups to try the new operating system before broader deployment. Next, there's HP Transformation Services for Windows 10, which is a collection of services to help IT pros with assessment and design strategies, including the ability to build Windows 10 images and manage deployments. The HP Roadmap Service for Windows 10 component, part of HP Advisory Services, provides a baseline roadmap for Windows 10 deployments. Lastly, the HP WebApp Accelerator Service for Internet Explorer 11 component helps organizations that have a need to run older IE technologies for their Web applications.

Browsium's software is being resold by HP as part of its WebApp Accelerator Service. It supports older IE technologies on Windows 7 or Windows 10 machines, according to Browsium's announcement (PDF).

HP's enterprise services for Windows 10 are all available now except for the HP Transformation Services for Windows component, which is expected to arrive on October 1, according to HP's announcement.
