1105 Media to Acquire Fawcette Technical Publications

1105 Media, Inc., has acquired the operating assets of Fawcette Technical Publications, Inc., publisher of Visual Studio Magazine and producer of numerous international conferences, including VS Live!

(Chatsworth, Calif.) 1105 Media, Inc., announced today it has acquired the operating assets of Fawcette Technical Publications, Inc. (FTP), publisher of Visual Studio Magazine and producer of numerous international conferences, including VS Live!, Web Design World, and Web Builder 2.0. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“We are delighted to be adding a portfolio of well-established and highly-regarded properties such as these. FTP builds on our strong presence in the Microsoft IT community, including developers and resellers,” said Neal Vitale, President and CEO of 1105 Media, Inc. “Besides adding a strong print and online resource in Visual Studio Magazine, this transaction significantly expands our conference and event activities in this marketplace. We value what Jim Fawcette has built, and feel fortunate to be in a position to strengthen and grow that base.”

“Seeing one of your children move on is always difficult,” added Jim Fawcette, founder of FTP, “but I feel that the business is in good hands, and will grow as part of 1105.”

FTP will become part of 1105 Media’s Redmond Media Group (RMG). This division will reach over 500,000 readers and attendees each year, through magazines, online information, and at live events. The other properties of RMG include Redmond Magazine, Redmond Channel Partner, and the recently-launched Redmond Developer News, related websites, and the semi-annual TechMentor conference. RMG is led by Group Publisher Henry Allain.

“This strategic acquisition positions the Redmond Media Group as the dominant media outlet serving all facets of the Microsoft IT, channel partner and developer communities. Visual Studio Magazine has a long and respected history in the market and the VS Live!, Web Design World, and Web Builder 2.0 events continue to provide a dynamic forum for developers to gather, network, and learn. The efficiencies gained through this acquisition are far-reaching, as many of the RMG and FTP products and audiences are perfectly complementary to each other. We believe both businesses will see tremendous benefit by coming together and moving forward as one,” said Henry Allain, Group Publisher of the Redmond Media Group.
