Live Communications Exam Goes Live July 10

Unified communications experts who pass Exam 70-262 will earn coveted MCTS title.

The Microsoft Learning Group has been spewing forth with exams aimed at SQL Server and Visual Studio experts in the last few months and has even been hard at work developing one for the newest version of BizTalk. But one exam that's been flying under the MCPmag.com radar while it was in development and in beta appears to be going live next week: 70-262 TS: Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005-Implementing, Managing, and Troubleshooting.

According to the exam objective guide, Exam 70-262 was available in beta format April 27 to May 10. While the guide doesn't indicate availability, the Pearson Vue testing cite does show exam registration is open and availability will occur on Monday, July 10. (Microsoft has been asked and has yet to confirm whether it's available through Thomson Prometric testing centers and if availability extends worldwide.)

Candidates for Exam 70-262 should have at least a year's working experience deploying corporate instant messaging and unified communications projects using Live Communications Server, says Microsoft. Passing the exam is the only requirement to obtain the MCTS: Live Communications Server 2005. For now, the exam hasn't made the list of currently available upper-level MCPD or MCITP titles.

No Microsoft Press titles are planned for this book, but Microsoft Learning points to a portal-style resource on its Web site for learning how to deploy and maintain a Live Communications Server environment at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX011526591033.aspx.
