70-300 Analyzing .NET Requirements in Beta

A required exam for MCSD.NET is finally making its way to beta, which means it may meet or beat its February 2003 release.

As expected, Microsoft this week has begun beta testing Exam 70-300, Analyzing Requirements and Defining .NET Solution Architectures, an exam that's required for completion of the MCSD.NET certification. The beta period ends this Sunday, Nov. 10. During the beta period, the exam will be numbered 71-300. For exam details and objectives, go to http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/exams/70-300.asp. (You can read more details on this exam in the News archive; see "Beta Exam Update: 70-300, Analyzing Requirements in November.")

Study resources for the exam remain sparse; Microsoft currently offers only one course, Course 2090, "Modeling Business Requirements to Create a Database Using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect," although two others appear on the exam guide. A quick search of third-party self-study resource provider Web sites, including Microsoft's certified test providers MeasureUp and Self-Test Software, showed older, 70-100 exam products. MeasureUp says it expects to release a preview of its study kit in December. Exam prep provider TestKing.com says it expects to release a 70-300 question-and-answer kit later this month, followed by a study guide after Microsoft releases the live exam.
