Microsoft Releases SP2 for BizTalk Server

Microsoft released a minor service pack for BizTalk Server 2000 last week that adds support for Visio 2002 and includes a handful of bug fixes.
It is the second service pack for BizTalk Server 2000, a member of the .NET Enterprise Server family originally released in January 2001 to facilitate integrating internal applications, building secure connections with business partners and automating business processes.
Microsoft has boosted the customer base for BizTalk Server from about 50 at the product's launch a year ago to around 800 now, including such corporate heavyweights as Ford Motor Co. The product has yet to reach a widespread audience, however.
The second generation of BizTalk, BizTalk Server 2002, was released in February of this year.
Earlier versions of BizTalk included support for Visio 2000. Visio 2002 was released to manufacturing a few months after BizTalk Server 2000 hit general availability last year.
In addition to some performance and manageability enhancements, Microsoft says the service pack includes a fix to support clustered scenarios including private message queues, some new stored procedures and a capability for configuring log-in information for proxy servers when connecting to an HTTP transport service.
