Intel Produces Server Architecture Blueprints

Intel Corp. and its partners are developing hundreds of infrastructure "blueprints" to help customers implement Intel-based server infrastructures for a variety of common vertical and horizontal uses.
The Intel Solution Blueprints, unveiled this week, include enterprise proven combinations of hardware, software and operating system. About 10 of the free guides are currently posted at www.intel.com/go/solutionblueprints.
"We are developing proven enterprise server solution recommendations that provide what companies are asking for most -- cost-effective solutions that are fast to configure and tailored to individual business needs," says Deborah Conrad, director of Intel's Solutions Market Development Group.
Partners working on the solution blueprints include Accenture, BEA, Cap Gemini, Compaq, Deloitte Consulting, EDS, HP, i2 Technologies, Microsoft, Oracle, Pivotal, Plumtree Software, PwC Consulting, SAS, and others.
Most of the blueprints will target verticals such as financial services, telecommunications or digital media. System integrators will offer to service the blueprints, according to Intel.
Microsoft's vice president for Windows Servers, Cliff Reeves, says the Intel blueprints and similar documents in Microsoft's Internet Data Center Prescriptive Architecture Guides fill a need. "[These] are a direct response to customer requirements for tested, proven guidance on how to use and deploy our platform in mission critical scenarios," Reeves said in a statement.
