Former Lotus Exec is New Windows Server Chief

Cliff Reeves, a veteran software business manager and developer, has been hired by Microsoft Corp. as vice president of marketing in the Windows.NET Server
Product Management Group.
Reeves brings 30 years of experience with IBM Corp. and Lotus Development Corp. to his new position.
He will lead marketing efforts for the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server family and
related products, and technologies, including Systems Management Server,
Terminal Services, and the forthcoming Microsoft Operations Manager. He began
work at Microsoft Monday.
Before
retiring from Lotus in January, Reeves led the product-definition effort that
took Lotus Notes from 10 million to 60 million users in four years. He also
defined the product strategy for IBM’s acquisition of Lotus in 1995, and
managed the product integration between Lotus and IBM the following year.
Reeves
began his career as a software development manager in 1971 in the United
Kingdom, He later managed development of IBM’s systems tools, common user
architecture, and object technology before becoming director of IBM workgroup
strategy in 1995. Reeves became vice president of product manage4ment at Lotus
in June 1996 and then served as senior vice president of knowledge management
and as a member of Lotus’ operating committee from March 2000 until his
retirement from the company earlier this year.
Reeves
worked with Microsoft and its products throughout his career. He took part in
cooperative efforts and alliances between IBM and Microsoft, and participated
on a collaborative team working on the IBM OS2 operating system. - Isaac Slepner
