ISA Server Receives Windows 2000 Certification

Microsoft Corp.’s firewall and caching server has been given the Windows 2000 seal of approval.

Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000, also known as ISA Server, is the latest of Redmond’s .NET enterprise server line to get Windows 2000 certified. Both versions, the full-featured Enterprise Edition and basic Standard Edition, were certified by Veritest. Veritest is the only company approved by Microsoft to test applications for compatibility with Windows 2000.

ISA Server joins the exclusive certified-for-Windows 2000-club, a group that currently has fewer than 60 members. To be certified by Veritest, an application must successfully complete a daunting battery of tests, proving its reliability on the Windows 2000 platform. Test include load and stress, hardware and software compatibility, usability, and bug-checking.

ISA Server is an enterprise-class firewall and web-caching server, and its quick Windows 2000 certification is a positive step for the product, which has generally gotten favorable reviews and press. As first reported by ENT, it was released to manufacturing Dec. 18, and should be available in January. - Keith Ward
