Dell Unveils Enterprise Thin Client Device

Dell Computer Corp. today announced the Dell e200, a thin client computing device that provides access to network resources, including Web servers, server-based Windows applications, and legacy-host computers.

The Dell (www.dell.com) e200 can access Windows applications hosted on Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services enabled, Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition, or Citrix (www.citrix.com) MetaFrame servers using Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) RDP and Citrix ICA protocols. The Dell e200 can also access industry standard Internet content with an integrated Web browser, available in the third quarter, and popular host computing applications through integrated terminal emulations.

The e200 also supports industry standard management protocols such as DHCP, SNMP, and FTP through Dell's OpenManage e200 Assistant, which enables configuration setup and firmware updates. The GUI finds Dell e200 clients on the network and displays status and errors. - Isaac Slepner
