Marimba Releases Castanet 4.5

Marimba Inc. has introduced Castanet 4.5, the latest release of the application distribution control software. The latest version offers new application installation policies and self-repair options, as well as extensible inventory, subscription and reporting to automate the management of enterprise-wide e-business applications.
In the application packaging process, Castanet 4.5 provides additional scripting control, macro definitions, and dynamic editing to provide faster and more reliable installations. Castanet's installation policies allow administrators to control when files are over-written, preventing user data, configuration files executables and DLLs from being over-written.
New package dependency policies allow the administrator to define prerequisites, such as minimum disk space, and co-dependencies, such as the existence of a specific file. Castanet 4.5, available this month, includes support for distributing Windows 2000 applications, especially towards the process of moving applications from Windows NT 4.0.
