Windows 2000: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Working with the Windows 2000 betas? Share your story with us.

How is Active Directory making networking simpler? Wished you could use IntelliMirror? Have your test servers been humming along better than with NT 4.0, or are they crashing more times than a teenager with a learner's permit? We've heard the whole gamut of rumor and conjecture -- now we want some stories from the trenches. That's right -- we want you to tell us about your true-life experiences in working with Windows 2000 beta software.

In 500 words or less, tell us what you think of Windows 2000 so far, focusing on:

  • One feature of Windows 2000 that makes it all worthwhile.
  • A feature that seems useless, or is promising but needs lots of work.
  • A feature that you wish they'd implement now.

We'll publish the best of your submissions in our April 2000 issue.

Send your submission to [email protected], with "Win2K Pros and Cons" on the Subject line of your message. Also, be sure to tell us what pre-release of Windows 2000 you're talking about, and if possible, your machine's configuration, and what you plan to do with Windows 2000 in the coming months.
