Rational Introduces ClearCase 4.0 Development Tool

Rational Software Corp. has announced the release of Rational ClearCase 4.0, a tool that allows developers to work on parts of the same application simultaneously while tracking and merging the changes. ClearCase 4.0 was released in tandem with another Rational product, Rational Suite 1.5.

ClearCase 4.0 features Unified Change Management (UCM), a new workflow process based on the change management best practices in the Rational Unified Process. It also includes expanded support for leading e-business platforms, with new IDE integrations, and support for visual modeling, functional testing and performance testing of Java applications.

ClearCase 4.0 is optimized for e-business development, including support for versioning XML. The application allows multiple content authors to work in parallel on XML and HTML content and automatically reconcile their changes. In addition, ClearCase also allows integration with popular Web development environments such as Microsoft FrontPage and IBM WebSphere.

ClearCase 4.0 will be available in the next 45 days.
