ADIC FibreReady Line Supports CA’s SAN Initiative

Advanced Digital Information Corp. (www.adic.com) announced that its FibreReady architecture product line provides full support for Computer Associates Inc.’s new Storage Area Network Integrated Technology Initiative (SANITI) and its new SAN-enabled Unicenter TNG Framework.

The announcement means ADIC's FibreReady products can be integrated into Fibre Channel SANs that are controlled and monitored by the new release of CA’s Unicenter TNG Framework.

CA’s SANITI leverages the Unicenter TNG Framework to provide an open platform for the management of storage area network devices. It delivers the benefits of single-console management with GUI technology delivering detection, mapping and end-to-end management, including servers of any platform, Fibre Channel hubs, switches, bridges, fibre-attached volumes or RAID arrays and storage devices such as tape libraries from ADIC and third-party providers.

ADIC's FibreReady architecture is a SAN-ready interface system built into the company's line of Fibre Channel product offerings. This family has three main components. The Scalar 218FC tape library is designed to connect directly to Fibre Channel SANs. The FCR series of Fibre Channel routers provides a series of tools for seamlessly integrating SCSI devices into Fibre Channel SANs. The ADIC Scalar 1000 family is a data center-class unit that offers an integrated FibreReady SAN-interconnect system.

"We believe that the future of enterprise data storage and protection will rest on SAN technology," says Bill Britts, ADIC executive vice-president of sales and marketing. -- Thomas Sullivan
