AT&T Announces Voice Over VPN

AT&T Global Clearinghouse (www.att.com) announced a voice over virtual private network (VPN) service, and a tool to measure the quality of voice over IP traffic.

The AT&T Voice Over VPN Service enables customers to operate additional applications on their VPN, as well as streamlining network management and increasing bandwidth efficiency.

The company also announced the AT&T Quality of Service (QoS) Monitoring tool, which helps users monitor and measure the end-to-end quality of voice over IP between known members of the AT&T Global Clearinghouse. The AT&T QoS Monitoring tool is also applicable for IP transit and VPN services.

In addition to the Clarent Corp. (www.clarent.com) and VocalTec Communications Ltd. (www.vocaltec.com) platforms already supported, the AT&T Global Clearinghouse today announced clearing and settlement services for traffic from Cisco Systems Inc.’s gateways. -- Thomas Sullivan
