It's the end of Derby Week in Lousiville, Kentucky, as the 135th Run for the Roses caps the week-long festivities. On May 3, in 1494, Christopher Columbus gets his first glimpse of Jamaica and the New World. Also this week, Brooklyn Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley announced the team's move to L.A. in 1952. And who can forget Cinco de Mayo, which marked a defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862? The day is often and mistakenly celebrated as Mexican Independence Day.
